What I Want for my Birthday

I know this is going to look like I’m ripping of Molly’s idea, but I swear that that is not the case. I had the idea at least a week before she sent out her email and posted it on her blog. Honest!

I’m not much for getting gifts. It mostly makes me uncomfortable. Don’t get me wrong, I like stuff, but not necessarily getting stuff from other people. Unless it’s Starbucks. Then feel free to give, give, give. (I’m quite fond of triple, venti, carmel macchiattos or venti, soy, chais.)

One of the best things to happen to our family has been Abby, our beautiful, year and a half old German Shepherd. Many of you already know the circumstances behind her joining us but for those of you who do not, we got her from a rescue in Michigan. TJ and I saw her on a website and knew she belonged with us. She was very badly abused and was in danger of being put to sleep because no one could draw her out of her shell. She was just plain scared of everyone and everything. But we knew she would be able to heal and learn to trust if she came to live with us. And so did the woman who ran the shelter, Jen Kind. Her name suits her – she is very kind. The work this woman is doing, on her own, is incredible.

There’s a link to her site, Athena’s Wisdom, over to the right, under the “Favorite Links” section. Please check out what she’s doing and if you feel like it, make a donation. Or get a pet. Or get a pet and make a donation.

So that’s what I want for my birthday, lots and lots of saved animals.

Good call. You can rip off my ideas anytime.

    Happy Birthday!

You guys have done a great job getting Abby out of her shell. Now you just have to work on her fear of ceiling fans…

Comment if you want. You know, no pressure.
