Yeah, I suck. Whatcha gonna do about it?

Holy shit! Has it really been two months since I’ve posted? Where has the time gone? Oh, that’s right, working and family time. And my continuing obsession with fan fiction which takes up my every spare moment. I’ll have to write about that at some point.

The last two weeks have been spent mostly hanging out with Micah. The week of the 13th, TJ and I took off from work and spent the whole time getting to know our son again. It was great. We played and did lots of fun stuff. We took him to Chicago on the Amtrak which seemed to be his favorite activity of all. That and riding in the taxi cabs. He made sure that we rode to the Shedd aquarium in a yellow cab and then back to Union Station in a purple one. He wasn’t as impressed with the aquarium as I thought he would be, but he still had fun.

This week wasn’t nearly as much fun. I worked from home every morning except Wednesday, which I spent in the office until nearly 5pm. TJ spent that day with him but didn’t really get much of a chance to enjoy herself. She started her new job the next day and her nerves got the better of her. Thursday afternoon, Micah and I went out to lunch and then picked up some cool rocks from a New Agey store and a beautiful bouquet of flowers to let TJ know how much we love her and how proud we are of her.

Spending so much time with Micah over the past two weeks has brought us much closer. I think not stressing out about work has also helped. I don’t feel like I need to raise my voice to him or get mad to get him to hear me or understand what I want him to do. We’re able to talk to each other and enjoy each other’s company. I really like him a lot and I’ve come to the conclusion that he likes me, too.

Oh, and Micah’s now potty trained. No more diapers or pull-ups and he hasn’t had any type of accident in a couple of weeks. His changing table now holds his 10 gallon aquarium with 6 glow-light tetras and 4 dwarf frogs. We’ve been telling him for a year or so that as soon as he was done with diapers he could have a fish tank, so now he does. His room has now completely been transformed from the baby’s room it used to be. He is truly a big boy now, except when he lets me occassionally cradle him and rock him and call him my baby after his bath.

Let’s see, what else is there to catch you up with? Work is incredibly hectic. My work load has increased quite a bit and I’m not happy about that. Too much stress and frustration for me. I’m pretty sure it’s also a major contributor to the lack of patience I had previously shown to Micah. I’ve decided to make some lifestyle changes come September. I’ll be cutting out alcohol and looking into taking some yoga classes. I’ll be celebrating my 39th birthday next week and I’d like to be around for at least another 39 years. I figured I’d better start making some changes now, before it really is too late.

That’s going to be it for me for now. I’m making no promises. I can tell it’s been way too long since I’ve written though. The words feel forced and awkward. Usually, everything just flows right out and I don’t even think about what I’m writing; the words just sort of appear. It’s my own damn fault for being so incredibly lazy. Sorry.

Comment if you want. You know, no pressure.
