Disbelief and Outrage

So, anyone else insanely tired of politics? I tend to move between utter disbelief and incredible outrage when listening to the news. It’s getting to the point where I have a hard time even turning NPR on in the morning.

It feels like the vast majority of politicians, federal and state, have completely lost touch with the purpose of government. Or at least what the purpose is supposed to be; to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its citizens. Corporations should not be considered citizens.  While I don’t deny that we need companies to provide jobs, we also need them to pay their fair share. Not only to their stockholders and executives but to the communities that allow them to rake in the dough.

I’m not going to get too far into this because I’m already starting to get angry and I’ve got a full day of work ahead of me where I need to be as calm as possible. I think I just needed to put it down in writing so that it would leave my head for a bit.

I just feel like we’ve all lost our minds. We’ve got Republicans lying about being Democrats – openly stating that they’re lying – to force a primary election to delay recalls. How did we come to such a place where lying and cheating and blatant disregard for the welfare of their constituents is accepted as just part of politics? And what the hell are the supporters of these cheating, lying assholes thinking? Not the uber rich, but the working poor who think they’re middle class? They need a good lesson in class consciousness and a strong kick in the ass.

Ok, I’m getting pissed off again. I just don’t get it.

Comment if you want. You know, no pressure.
