Cracks Not Crack

Yesterday, I read a headline on Twitter about three Southwest planes having been found with crack on board. I thought that was odd. I thought crank would be more appropriate. You know, for the pilots. But I heard a story on NPR on the way to work that said there were CRACKS found, not crack. I think I felt better when I thought it was crack.
