Thirty four more days. Where did the time go? We’re still no more prepared than we were a few months ago. From the baby shower, we’re pretty much set for most things. TJ’s dad and step-mom got us a crib and mattress a few weeks ago and we’ve been waiting to get in the new house before setting anything up.
Molly organized our baby shower and it was fabulous! TJ and I had a great time and it appeared that everyone else did too. The number of people who attended sort of surprised us. We felt very loved. Sometimes we’re still amazed at how positively everyone has responded to the baby.
Grandma and Grandpa Collins seem to be more excited than just about anyone about the little one’s arrival. Grandpa retires at the end of this month and is looking forward to spending lots of time with the baby. Hopefully they’ll be all settled into their new house before the baby arrives.
We get to move into our new house in a few days. It’s a bit overwhelming for us right now. There’s so much to do so close to the baby’s due date. I just hope we get a few days to relax before the delivery.
I find myself thinking in a more responsible, grown-up way. I suppose, at 35, it’s about time. This is the first time I actually care about the benefits that are offered by my job. I”ve started planning for my son’s higher education. Like most other parents, I worry that I won’t be good enough; that I’ll screw him up beyond repair. Perhaps I should start saving for his therapy as well as college.
